Curley Wolves Headed To StatePublished Wednesday, May 7, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneAfter another successful conference title, the Wolves are wrapping up the 1997 track and field season. The team came together for their 15th district title and will be searching for another state championship as a departing gift for coach Eddie Jackson. The state winners from all classifications will gather at Cabot on Wednesday, May 14, for the annual Meet of Champions. Prescott has been very fortunate to have representatives at this meet for several years and coach Jackson says the Wolves could make it again in '97. Channing Butler is the defending AA high hurdle champion and he's a good shot at repeating. The man's mile relay also has a chance to win at Clarksville, Jackson said. The folllowing week will close out the season with the annual decathlon- Heptathalon to be held back at Clarksville. Cedric Flemons finished in 10th place last year and has a chance to move up as he has improved in several events. Jason Morrow competed very well as a sophomore and should be greatly improved as a junior. Look for results of these events in later editions.
