PHS Girls' Squads Finish Up Track SeasonBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, May 7, 1997 in the Nevada County Picayune Members of the Wolverette and Cubette track teams did well in the district track meet last week at Prescott High School. Two members of the Wolverette squad will be making the trip to the state meet in Clarksville Saturday. Jessica Hildebrand will be competing in the 300 meter hurdles, while Stacy Stockton will be in the 3200 meter run. In the district meet, Hildebrand was fifth in the high jump and second in the long jump. Her long jump covered 15-71/2. She was fourth in the 100 meter hurdles, followed by Lakeshia Stuckey, who finished fifth. But, she earned her trip to state with a second place finish in the 300 meter hurdles, covering the distance in 0:51.5, in spite of having a pulled muscle in her back. Stuckey posted a personal best :56.16 in the event, good for fourth place, while Jennifer Adams, who finished sixth, ran the event in :59.6. In other events, Charo Young was third in the shot put with a toss of 31-0, while C. Harris was sixth. Melissa Beavert hurled a personal best 64 feet in the discus. The 400 meter relay team of Adams, Harris, Hildebrand and Stuckey, was third with a time of :57.03. Lindsey Powell finished sixth in the 800 meter run with a time of 3:01 for a personal best, while Mandy Cox turned in a personal best of 3:04. In the mile relay, the team of Powell, Kaylor Sorrells, Adams and Stuckey were fifth in 4:54. Turning to the Cubette district meet, Traci Graham was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 14-111/2. Nicole Martin was fifth at 14-5. Graham won the high jump, clearing 4-8. In the discuss, Doneshia Williamson hurled a 69-7 for fourth place. The two mile relay team of Kaylor Sorrells, Martin, Bridgette Peters and L. Williams was third with a time of 11:27. The 400 meter relay squad, with Peters, Leslie Woods, Sorrells and Martin, was fourth in :56.81. Sorrells was fifth in the mile run with a time of 6:26, while Laura Johnson turned in a personal best of 7:31 and Megan Reeder ran her best mile of the year in 6:46. Peters was sixth in the 400 meter dash, covering the distance in 0:66. Woods had a personal best time of :68.6 in the race. The mile relay team took their event with a time of 4:30, the best the team has ran this year. The mile squad is composed of Woods, Katrina Sorrells, Peters and Martin.
