Alcoholics Anonymous, a fellowship of men and women who wish to stop drinking, meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday evenings at 8:00 in the church. For more information call 887-5991.

Mom's in Touch weekly prayer group, praying for local schools and children, will begin in August to meet and pray. Call 887-6376 if you are interested in joining this gourp.

Mom's in Touch first international Arkansas state rally with the founder, Fern Nichols, will be September 9 in Little Rock.

A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be at the Nevada County Courthouse on Thursday, August 26, and September 23.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind checks. To find out if you are eligible, call 1- 800-772-1213.

Registration is ongoing for the fall classes at the University of Arkansas Community College in Hope. Fall classes begin August 26. Schedules are available through student services.

Nevada County farmers are selling their produce at the Farmer's Market each week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until sold out at the Prescott City Park.

If you are a Nevada County farmer with produce to sell, contact the Extension office at 887-2818 or Mary Godwin at 887-2101 for additional information concerning this opportunity to market your goods.

The 1999 Nevada County Fair books are now available. Fair books have been placed throughout the county for your convenience, or they can be picked up at the county extension office. The Nevada County Fair is August 31 through September 4 this year. Check-in times have changed this year, so be sure to pick up your copy of the fair book as soon as possible.

Anyone planning to enter or take poultry to the fair must contact the Nevada County Extension office before close of business at 4:30 p.m. Friday, August 13. Call Rex Dollar at 887- 2818 if more information is needed.

Poultry entries at the fair will be from Aug. 31 through Sept. 5.

A baby shower will be given for Terri and Shawn Hawkins on Sunday, August 15. The shower will be an informal, walk-in affair from 2 to 4 p.m. It will be at the home of Melissa Jackson, located on Fairview Road, off Highway 19. All family and friends are invited to attend.

Grandpa's Place, located between Falcon and Patmos, will present Men of Calvary, All the Cross, Third Generation and Russ Carlton on August 14 at 7:00 p.m. Take your lawn chair.

On Sunday, August 22, White Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate homecoming. There will also be a dedication ceremony of the new steeple which was erected in honor of Richard Arnold. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. with preaching by Bro. Dennis Wilson. Lunch will be served. All family and friends are invited.

Vacation Bible school will be held at Mt. Moriah Church near Laneburg August 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Homecoming and revival services at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Willisville will be August 15.

Rev. J.C. Owens will be in charge of the morning service. Homecoming will be at 2:30 with guest minister Dr. E.L. Thomas, pastor of Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Milwaukee, Wis.

Guest church will be Harrison Chapel Baptist Church in Waterloo with Rev. Bobby Box as pastor. Guest minister for the week is Dr. E.L. Thomas. You are invited.
