A racially-mixed date led to two local men being arrested late Friday night.

According to reports from the Prescott Police Department, a disturbance call came in around 11 p.m. Friday from the Shell Super Stop.

When officers arrived, they noticed a large crowd of people on the parking lot. Officers were told an angry parent had came to get his daughter, who was on the mixed-date.

According to the reports, while the parent, David Hildebrand, was trying to pull his daughter from a pickup truck, he pulled a young male from the truck onto the ground.

Parents and relatives of the male then got angry and disorderly. Officers with the PPD, Nevada County Sheriff's Office and one unit from the Arkansas State Police were eventually able to restore order at the scene.

Mike Gulley was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, while Hildebrand was charged with battery. Both men were placed in jail at the time.

MARIJUANA ARREST

A Rockford, Ill., man was arrested for simple possession of marijuana Saturday, after being stopped on a traffic incident.

According to PPD reports, officer Wayne Sorrells stopped Romulus Pope for having no license plate on the vehicle he was driving.

The officer noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the car and saw a pipe in the front seat. A search found less than an ounce of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana.

Pope was arrested, taken to jail and released on bond.

IMAGE UPGRADE

The Prescott Police Department is working to upgrade its image with the public.

Sam Reeder has been hired, through a federal grant program, to work special duty at the four housing developments in Prescott.

The ones at Hale Ave., West Acre Terrace, High Meadows and Scott.

Reeder is a certified law enforcement officer with 10 years of law enforcement experience.

The PPD is also adding a new look to its patrol cars with a more pleasing stripe job on the vehicles.
