RedlandHazel MeeksPublished Wednesday, August 11, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune Charlie and Mel Cox from Ashdown visited his brothers, Pershing and George Cox and their families on Sunday. We extend our sympathy to the Coy Glass family. Coy passed away at his home on Sunday morning. About 20 youth and sponsors from Shady Grove went to Little Rock on Monday to do any kind of jobs they could do for tornado victims. Everything was fine except a near tragedy caused by a blow out on the church van. We first give the Lord credit and the good thinking and driving of Paul Cox. On Monday Katy Wilson and Whitney Lowdermilk attended a movie in Texarkana. On Friday night Katy attended Miccah Yates' birthday party and sleep-over. On Saturday night Katy attended a back to school party given by Jade Hollis. Shady Grove ended another successful and very well attended Bible school on Sunday night. We had over 100 each night. John and Dawn McLelland has returned from Red Lodge, Mont., where they attended the 50th anniversary celebration of his sister and brother-in-law, Sam and Patsy Rowe. All their children and grandchildren were present. After their return from Montana, John, Dawn and Thais McLelland met their daughter and sister, Doug and Peggy Burley at Melwur Lake for a nice visit at their cottage near Carthage, Texas. Ricky and Nancy Burke attended the wedding of Nancy's nephew, Bro. Jonathan Russell, to Mandy Sumrale on Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Bay Springs, Miss. Nancy and her sister went earlier to help prepare for the wedding. The groom is pastor of First Baptist church in Shady Grove, Miss. They all returned home on Sunday. Paul and Kim Cox treated the deacons and their wives with a hamburger cookout and all the trimmings.
