Published Wednesday, May 28, 1997 in the Nevada County Picayune

Madeline Taylor has qualified and registered for the Motivation for Academic Performance (MAP) program sponsored by Duke University Talent Identification Program.

Duke University Talent Identification Program, also known as TIP, was founded in 1980 and is dedicated to the cultivation and education of talented youth. The MAP program, begun in 1994, expanded the parameters of TIP to include fourth and fifth grade students.

To participate in MAP, three eligibility requirements must be met: the student must be in the fourth or fifth grade; must have scored at the 95th percentile or above on a standardized achievement, aptitude, or mental ability test; and must live within TIP's 16-state search region.

Taylor attends Prescott Middle School, where she is in the gifted and talented program. She is the daughter of Bill and Karen Taylor of Presott. Grandparents are Juanita Taylor and Merle Owens of Prescott.
