Two industry- and business-related expansions were touted during an industry appreciation day at the Prescott Country Club on Thursday, May 22.

This is the second year the Prescott-Nevada County Economic Development Office has had a gathering for the county's industrial leaders.

Hillcrest Care and Rehab has already began work on its expansion which will add 19 new residential rooms and expand its rehabilitation area.

The expansion is expected to create at least five new jobs for Hillcrest, which already employees 70.

Eddie Arnold, president of Colonial Homes - owners of Hillcrest, made the announcement at the gathering.

Chandler Russ, director of the economic office, said the Hillcrest expansion is related not only to the closing of Nevada County Hospital, but the commitment of St. Michael and its proposed building project planned for Prescott.

Hillcrest is ranked in the top five of the state's 270 nursing home facilities according to Arnold.

Another five new jobs have been created since E.A. Holder, Inc., has located its trucking terminal on Highway 67.

The terminal is located at the former Hildebrand Body Shop location near the Sonic Drive-In in Prescott.

E. A. Holder, established in 1963, holds both common and contract authorities. It is one of the largest flatbed carrier companies in Texas.

The company can be contacted by owners/operators interested in working from a Prescott terminal.

Plans for the economic office's Prescott Industrial Park were unveiled also during the evening.

The Prescott City Council approved a measure April 21 to purchased 114 acres on Highway 200 (Ron Harrod Drive) behind the Firestone plant for future industry expansion.

NRS Engineers designed the conceptual plans for site development.

Mike Burke, from NRS, told the group the site is easily developed and allows a good opportunity for improvement.

A topographically map, landscaping plan, entrance signs, aerial photographs, surveying, subdividing and proposed road from Highway 200 are part of the work to be done by NRS.

The site is located on Highway 200 just northeast of Prescott and Northwestern Railroad spur and offers easy access to I-30.

The proposed park design has three 10-acre sites and one 5-acre site on Highway 200.

A road would provide access to two more 5-acre lots, two 11-acres sites, one 19-acre site and a 6.5-acre site.

A second road would open up two additional 10-acre sites.

Other property is available near the site for future expansion.

The site has added city services since being annexed into the city of Prescott.
