Bluff CityJerry McKelvyPublished Wednesday, August 11, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune Still no rain in these parts. I hate to mention the lack of rain, because by the time you read this it may be flooding. You know how this Arkansas weather is. Word was received a few days ago of another accident involving one of our families. Jodie Ray Nelson, a grandson of Claudis and Oleta Nelson, was seriously injured in an automobile accident returning home from work. He had to have some surgery, but was improving at last report. He will probably need more surgery later. Pearl Henson, a sister of Eloene McBride, recently had surgery and got a good report. She and Lloyd had returned to the states recently from their missionary work in Zambia, Africa, to have their medical needs taken care of in this country. The conditions in that part of the world should make us thankful for what we have in this country. Laverne Green enjoyed a visit from her daughter, Gail, and children from Houston, Texas, a few days ago. Helen Kelley, mother of Kay Nelson, has been moved to another room at St. Michael Rehab Hospital in Texarkana. Check with Kay for the correct room number if you would like to send her a card. Andy Nelson and girls were visiting James and Kay Nelson last week and were visitors at church on Sunday. Be careful when doing any burning in this hot, dry weather. Some counties have burn bans. Our thought this week: "Even the lowly woodpecker owes his success to the fact that he uses his head." Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
