Marvin Artis MeeksPublished Wednesday, June 4, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesMarvin Artis Meeks, 61, of Okolona died Monday, May 26, 1997, in Pike County Hospital in Murfreesboro. Born February 8, 1936, in Clark County, he was employed with Firestone Building Products of Prescott. He served in the Army Reserves for 22 years and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Okolona. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Meeks of Okolona; two sons, Marvin Laronne Meeks of Charlotte, N.C., and Artis LaVonne Meeks of Okolona; one daughter, Linda J. Brown of Little Rock; one brother, James Meeks of Delight; two sisters, LiNell Alexander of Okolona and Ozell Berry of Albany, Ga.; and six grandchildren. Services were held Saturday, May 31, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Okolona with Rev. Rufus Hatley officiating.
