DeGray To Host Guided HikesPublished Wednesday, June 4, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesOn June 7, DeGray Lake Resort State Park will be celebrating National Trails Day by offering guided hikes on the five walking trails within the state park. The trails included are Green Heron at the visitors center, Chickadee at the park store, Island at the lodge, Towering Pines and Saginaw Historic Trails at the amphitheater and the horseback riding trail. Visitors are welcome to join the park interpreteres on a scheduled trail hike or can venture out on their own. Guided horseback rides will also be available at DeGray stables. Storytelling weekend begins Friday, June 6, and ends Saturday night June 7. A local storyteller will be presenting campfire programs at the amphitheater both nights. DeGray Lake Resort State Park is located six miles north of Interstate 30 at exit 78 on Highway 7 North. For more information call 870-865-2801.
