Applications Are Sought

Central Arkansas Development Council has begun accepting applications for the Crisis Intervention Program.

This program will assist low-income households with home energy related emergency situations. The household must have an energy related crisis situation on the date of application.

The Crisis Program has changed this year. To be eligible for assistance, the household must meet one of the following:

  • household has had a 20% or greater loss of income during the previous month;

  • household's energy bills exceed 20% of the monthly countable, or

  • household has non-covered medical emergency expenses in excess of 20% of the monthly countable income.

In addition the household must have a crisis which could include one of the following: below 10% tank capacity for butane or propane, or energy has been shut-off, or energy is threatened to be shut-off.

If the household cannot meet these requirements, it will not be eligible for assistance.

Other guidelines include proof of prior month's income, assistance adequate to alleviate the crisis, residency and resources. Any household having recieved Crisis Intervention Assistance between October 15, 1996, and January 6, 1997, will not be eligible for assistance on this program.

Applications will be taken on Wednesdays from 12 noon till 3 p.m. at Arkadelphia Senior Adult Center on Highway 67 South at the Clark County Fairgrounds and at Gurdon Senior Adult Center, 410 East Main.
