THEFT THWARTEDPublished Wednesday, August 11, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneAn attempted theft of a piece of farm machinery was thwarted by the machinery itself. According to NCSO reports, someone attempted to steal a hay bailer from an Emmet residence around Aug. 3. However, the bailer was on cinder blocks and when the perpetrator attempted to hook onto the equipment, it fell off the blocks. The suspect was unable to move the bailer and had to leave empty handed. However, reports stated another piece of machinery had to be moved in order for the suspect to try and steal the bailer.
