Students Attend Girls StatePublished Wednesday, June 11, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesFatima McKindra of Little Rock was elected Governor of Girls State last week. Girls State was held on the campus of Harding University in Searcy June 1-6. Cities and counties the junior high schools students were elected to are fictitious. Jojo Gattis of Gurdon was elected Alderman, Pos. 1, of the city of Clinton and Constable, Pos. 1, of McClellan County. Tara Hughes of Gurdon was elected Alderman, Pos. 5, of the city of Pollan. Kara Thomas of Gurdon was elected Treasurer of the city of Doty. Also in attendance was Kimberly Robertson of Gurdon. Girls State and Boys State are sponsored by the American Legion.
