Coleman Is New Miss Gurdon Lake

Jennifer Coleman was crowned Miss Gurdon Lake in the Miss Gurdon Lake Beauty Pageant held on May 5 in the Gurdon Middle School Auditorium.

Coleman is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Coleman of Arkadelphia. She is a graduate of Arkadelphia High School and presently owns Jenny's Hair Care Salon.

In the talent competition, Miss Coleman gave a vocal selection of "I Won't Complain."

First runner-up was Roshunda Allison, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Linda Arnold and Herbert Allison of Arkadelphia.

Christina Hopson won the title of Junior Miss Gurdon Lake.

Hopson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Hopson of Gurdon. For the talent competition, Miss Hopson performed a bilingual solo, along with instrumental music on the saxophone.

First runner-up was Ashley Huddleston, the daughter of Bonnie Huddleston of Arkadelphia. The second runner-up was Amena Williams, the daughter of Brenda Scott and Kenny Williams.

Shameka Patterson was the winner in the Pre-Teen division. She is the daughter of Tony Patterson, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Bland of Gurdon.

First runner-up was Kimberley Hannah, the daughter of Mr. Gregory Hannah and Mrs. Vanilla Hannah of Arkadelphia. The second runner-up was Jennifer Watson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Blake of Curtis.

In the Tiny Miss division, Latasia Licole Williams, the daughter of Ms. Olivia A. Williams of Gurdon, was crowned winner.

Destiny Talley was first runner-up. Destiny is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Talley of Gurdon. The second runner-up was Bridgett Jones. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Jones of Arkadelphia.

The Infant division winner was Courtney Rose Phillips. Courtney is the daughter of Chris Phillips and Valerie Crow of Gurdon.

First runner-up was Shania Janielle Hatley. Shania is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Hatley of Gurdon. The second runner-up was Kenya Sims. She is the daughter of Ms. Amanda Bell Marks of Gurdon.

The winner in each division received a crown, flowers, tiara and a trophy. The winners in the Infant and Tiny Miss divisions received a $25 savings bond.

In the Miss Gurdon Lake division, the winner received a scepter and will receive a $250 scholarship upon entering college.

The pageant was made possible by the Clark County Youth Development Center.
