PHS Class Of 1947 Meets

The graduation class of 1947 met Saturday, May 31, at the Prescott Country Club for their 50th year class reunion. Visitation for class members and nonmembers were from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Nonmembers visiting were Rucker Murry, Billy Don Simpson, Spot Daniel, Myrna Hunter, Lois McCain, Ellen Marie Holt, Jim Wingfield, Curtis and Mary Johnson (all from Prescott), Mr. and Mrs. Wenzel Lowdermilk of El Dorado, and Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Barham of Owasso, Okla. Coke, chips and dip were served.

The committee working on the reunion consisted of Mary Richey, Ann Gordon, Betty Hawkey, Virginia Harris and Faye Harris.

At 6:00, class members and their guests met again for their meal.

Individual tables and the head table were decorated with white tablecloths and each had an arrangement of blue and white flowers, the class colors.

Jackie Hale Archer served as mistress of ceremonies. After she gave the invocation, the group enjoyed a delicious meal of steak, baked potato, salad, rolls, tea, and pie. The meal was catered by Maude Hinson.

Each member was asked to stand and introduce themselves and their guest and state what they have been doing in the last fifty years.

Those in attendance from out of town were Bob and Jackie Hale Archer, Bob and Margaret Compton, and Herbert and Virginia Otwell Meador (all of El Dorado), John H. and Barbar Ann Hesterly of Aberdeen, Md., Jimmie D. and Erma Hignight of Fort Smith, Harold and Dr. Leslie Ann Buchanan Lane of Rutherfordton, N.C., Carolyn Hines Rix of Hot Springs, Jimmy E. and Gertrude McRae Pogue of Royal, Waldon and Margo Holder of Port Arthur, Texas, Charles and Virginia Jones Ghormley of Las Vegas, Nev., Joel and Juanita Ridgell of Cumby, Texas, Jack and Wanda Stivers of Houston, Texas, Jim Ed and Emma Jane Stockton Duke of Texarkana, Shell and Kathleen Woosley Blakely of Searcy, and Jack and Frances Jones Barham of Owasso, Okla.

Those attending from Prescott were Dr. Charles and Betty Avery, Betty Avery Hawley, John Robert Stewart, Loyce McGill, Virginia Lambert Harris, James and Mary Lou Wise Richey, Bill and Ann Hasley Gordon and Paul and Faye Richey Harris.

Each member was given a memento booklet from their school days. Everyone had a great time visiting, taking pictures and reminiscing about old times.
