Teleconference Center Is Completed At UACCH

Published Wednesday, June 18, 1997 in the Nevada County Picayune

The University of Arkansas Community College at Hope has completed its teleconference facility.

The center features the latest in two-way audio and two-way video with a wide screen, which allows local conversation to be muted until participants wish to ask questions.

These facilities are available to all businesses and industries throughout southwest Arkansas. The college welcomes the opportunity to serve business and industry through the use of the center, according to a news release.

The center hosted two health seminars during the weekend and on Tuesday, June 17. These seminars are open and free to the public. Dr. Rosey Sequin and others on the University of Arkansas for Medical Science staff presented a program on June 14 on the myths of menopause.

"One of the greatest myths about menopause is that all women have problems associated with it," Dr. Sequin stated. "The reality is that most women don't see their doctors while they are going through menopause unless they are having problems, so doctors have a skewed point of view.

"More often than not, women have a fairly easy transition into the menopausal stage of life," Dr. Sequin said. "Although it is not to say that women don't have any signs of menopause. At this time in their lives, women can experience menopause as a natural life event that can be a smooth transition or it can be a traumatic change."

The second public teleconference was to be presented by Dr. Richard Harper, Department of Ophthalmology. The lecture topic was `Diabetic Retinopathy.'

The college requests that you contact Peggy Braden at 777-5722 about future conferences.
