College NewsPublished Wednesday, June 18, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneShelly Kay Browning of Emmet, graduate of Nevada High School; Sara Allison Huett of Emmet, graduate of Prescott High School; Thomas Brandon McLelland of Prescott, graduate of Prescott High School; David Eugene Jackson of Prescott, graduate of Prescott High School; and Katie Lynn Gordon of Prescott, graduate of Prescott High School, have made the dean's list at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. A total of 277 students were named to the list for the spring semester. To be eligible for the dean's list, a student must be registered in 12 or more semester hours and attain a grade point average of 3.50 or above. Sammy Lowdermilk of Prescott has been awarded an entering freshman scholarsip at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The scholarship covers fees and tuition for up to four years. Lowdermilk is the son of Barbara and Gary Lowdermilk. He attended Prescott High School, where he was a highest honor graduate, an outstanding denior, a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and the Quiz Bowl team and won a Wal-Mart dcholarship. He was also active in the Nevada County Community Theater and the Church of Christ youth group. He plans to major in biochemistry at UALR. >JULIE BRUNO Julie Bruno, graduate of Prescott High School, has been accepted to Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Okla. Julie is the daughter of Janice and Buddy Carter of Prescott and the granddaughter of Rev. Jack and Margaret Lowe of Enid, Okla. Julie graduated in May with high honors and as an outstanding senior. She was awarded a $2,000 music scholarship from Southern Nazarene University for her performance on the saxophone and the piano. She was also awarded the Marvin Watson music scholarship and the Dorothy Odom scholarship. Julie will be attending Southern Nazarene University in the fall as a music major. Monica Burton, Janet Clarke, Carolyn Davis, Melanie Glass, Debra Harris and Phillip Pine all made the Dean's List at Henderson State University for the spring semester. Jasyln K. DeWoody, Jerri Glass, Shawn Thompson, Lori Williams, John E. Woods,Jr., and Rhonda Woods all made the Honor Roll at Henderson State University.
