Two From Gurdon Earn DDSPublished Wednesday, June 18, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesTwo 1990 graduates of Gurdon High School received doctor of dental surgery (DDS) degrees from the University of Tennessee at Memphis during commencement ceremonies on June 6 at the Mid-South Coliseum. J. Michael Plyler is the son of Larry and Sarah Plyler of Gurdon. His grandparents are J.W. and Reva Wingfield and Joe and Tannie Plyler, all of Gurdon. Plyler received a bachelor's degree from Henderson State University in 1994. He is a member of American Dental Student Association, Omicron Kappa Upsilon and the Richard Doggett Dean and Marguerite Taylor Dean Honorary Odontological Society. Plyler is married to Sharon Francis Plyler, the daughter of Jerry and Mary Francis of Arkadelphia. David L. Stewart is the son of Buddy and Jeanie Stewart of Gurdon. He received a bachelor's degree in 1993 from Henderson State University. In 1995 Steward was selected as a Hinman Scholar. He received the James Andrew Scholarship in 1996 and 1997, and the UT National Alumni Scholarship in 1993. He is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon and the Richard Doggett Dean and Marguerite Taylor Dean Honorary Odontological Society. Stewart plans to practice in Searcy. His grandparents are Lola Stewart, the late George Stewart and the late Mr. and Mrs. Junius Ezell, all of Gurdon. Stewart is married to Kelly J. Stewart, the daughter of Wallace and Jo Holland of Arkadelphia. After graduation Stewart will join the private practice of Dr. James Robertson in Ozark.
