Drive Is Planned

The Artesian Arts League's annual meeting and membership drive will be held at 8 p.m. on September 7 at Prescott City Hall. Anyone who is interested in visual, literary or performing arts is encouraged to attend.

Anybody who joins and refers a potential member who joins by October 1 will receive a free ticket to an upcoming event.

The arts league will sponsor a booth at the Nevada County Fair, where the league will a fund-raising event.

During the past year, the arts league held a fifties follies, a Christmas play, a fiction writers' workshop and an art contest for children at the Chicken and Egg Festival.

A few of the upcoming events include a coffee and poetry reading September 18, a fall table topper luncheon, a Christmas bazaar with entertainment, a watercolor workshop for intermediate level painters given by local artist Betty Williams and a second writer's workshop with several fiction writers and a literary agent or editor.

If you are a child or adult who can draw, paint, sew, act, direct, dance, love poetry or any kind of writing; if you are a whiz at makeup, love any kind of creative endeavor, or have a knack for corralling talented, boisterous kids; if you like being with energetic, creative people who want to offer a taste of the arts to Prescott; if you like to have fun and don't mind working hard, Judy Duke, league president, encourages you to attend the September meeting.
