Rape Suspect CaughtBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, June 25, 1997 in the Gurdon Times A 42-year-old Gurdon man has been charged with the rape of a Gurdon teenager. Millard James Russey, of Gurdon, was arrested last week in a cooperative effort with the Gurdon Police Department and Clark County Sheriff's Office. According to Sheriff Troy Tucker, the rape occurred in the early hours of Sunday, May 18 on Old Whelen Road. The victim was a 15- year-old girl who was walking in the area when the attack happened. Tucker said the victim was able to give a description of her attacker, while other witnesses were able to identify the suspect as the person they had seen in the area around the time of the attack as well. Rape is a class Y felony, punishable by 10 to 40 years or life in prison. Russey is being held in the Clark County jail on a $500,000 bond.
