Foundation President NamedPublished Wednesday, June 25, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneAt the annual meeting of the fellows and directors of the Arkansas Bar Foundation on Wednesday, June 11, at Hot Springs, local attorney Glenn Vasser was elected and installed as president of the foundation for the year 1997-1998. Vasser has served as director, vice president and secretary-teasurer of the Arkansas Bar Foundation. The Arkansas Bar Foundation is a charitable non-profit organization founded in 1958 to improve the administration of justice through various studies, publications, award of scholarships and other endeavors. The foundation is composed of fellows who are outstanding lawyers who become members by invitation only. The foundation's activities include the funding of professorships at the University of Arkansas Law School and UALR Law School, endowing of 35 law school scholarships each year, and funding special projects to promote legal education and advancemnent of justice in Arkansas. The foundation also selects outstanding lawyers as recipients of awards at its annual Fellows Banquet. Vasser is a member of the law firm of McKenzie, McRae, Vasser and Barber of Prescott and Hope, where he is engaged in the general practice of law with emphasis in probate, estate planning, commercial and bank law and related litigation. Vasser was admitted to practice in 1972. He is the city attorney for Prescott, and he has also served as municipal judge for Prescott for two terms, served as a special justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court, and served as president of the Nevada County Bar Association when it received the Outstanding Local Bar award. Vasser is also a member of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys. Vasser has served as a member of the Arkansas Bar Association House of Delegates, of which he is a tenured delegate. He is presently a member of the executive council of the association. He has served as the chairman and member of various committees of the Arkansas Bar Association and he has been a recipient of the Arkansas Bar Association Golden Gavel Award for outstanding service. Vasser has also served as a speaker at numerous bar association-sponsored Continuing Legal Education seminars. Vasser has also served in various leadership positions for the Prescott community, including school board president, Chamber of Commerce president, and Kiwanis Club president.
