George Herschel WrightPublished Wednesday, July 2, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneGeorge Herschel Wright, M.D., 84, of Hope died Tuesday, June 24, 1997, at his home in Hope. He was born January 4, 1913, in Memphis, Tenn., to Lula Lee Mercer and J. Robert Wright. He was a retired physician of 42 years in Hope. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hope and the Century Bible Class. Dr. Wright was a World War II air force veteran, a graduate of Byrd Hight School in Shreveport, La., then a graduate of LSU Medical School in 1940. He was a founding member of American Academy of Family Physicians, a member of American Medical Society, Arkansas Medical Society and Hempstead County Medical Society. He was a 32 degree mason, a Shriner, a member of the Easter Star and Golden K Kiwanis Club. Survivors include his wife, Claire Wright of Hope; three sons, George H. Wright Jr. of Hope, Larry Don Wright of Rogers and William Randal Wright of Hope; one daughter, Judy Kay Walters of Texarkana, Texas; one sister, Lena Mae Hutt of Fouke; and ten grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Services were Thursday, June 26, at First United Methodist Church of Hope with Rev. Davis Thompson officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Brazzel-Oakcrest Chapel Funeral Home of Hope.
