Desiree Meister of Prescott, who is majoring in special education/mildly handicapped has made the dean's list at University of Central Arkansas (UCA).

Kelly Whitmarsh of Prescott, who is majoring in physical therapy, was awarded the Presidential Scholar.

Angela Dickson of Waldo, who is majoring is speech, was also on the dean's list.

UCA recognized 1,533 students for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester.

Provost Bill Berry said that 962 students were named to the dean's list, an achievement requiring at least a 3.50 GPA on a minimum of 12 credit hours.


Amie Denise Williams of Nevada High School has accepted an academic scholarship to the University of Central Arkansas beginning in August.

UCA awards academic scholarships, renewable for four years, based on ACT score and class rank, as well as National Merit and National Achievement competition.

Williams will receive a University Scholarship for tuition and fees.

She is the daughter of Dwight and Phyllis Williams of Buckner.

She was senior class president, highest honors, graduate publications editor, a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, Beta Club and French Club, and received the President's Award for Educational Excellence and awards in publications, trigonometry, advanced mathematics and French II. She plans to enroll in pre-pharmacy.
