Military NewsPublished Wednesday, July 2, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesCaptain Steven McNeely, a member of the 4003rd USAG Support Unit, recently received the Army Commendation Medal and has been selected into the Judge Advocated General Crops (JAG). In civilian life, McNeely is a lawyer in private practice in Gurdon and Arkadelphia. He is the son of Robert and Betty McNeely and is a 1984 graduate of Arkadelphia High School. He graduated from Henderson in 1988 and the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1996. McNeely was initially commissioned as an infantry officer before his branch transfer to JAG. The Army Commendation Medal was awarded for his unselfish service to Operation 1-6, a task to solve personnel issue within the Reserve. McNeely has been in the United States Army Reserve for 15 years. He is currently assigned as a Legal Assistance Officer for the 4003rd.
