County Road Bids OpenedPublished Wednesday, September 1, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe Arkansas State Highway Commission has opened bids for a project to improve a Nevada County Road, according to Highway Commissioner Mary P. 'Prissy' Hickerson of Texarkana and Nevada County Judge James Roy Brown. The project includes construction of a new bridge over Terre Rouge Creek on County Road 33, south of Emmet. Rockport Bridge and Construction Inc. of Malvern was awarded a $687,584.87 contract for the work. The project is expected to be completed by next summer. Hickerson noted that the project is funded through the State Aid Road Program established by the legislature and administered by the State Aid Division of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department. This program provides up to $13 million annually from the state motor fuels tax to assist counties with projects of their choosing on the county road system.
