For Livestock LossesPublished Wednesday, July 9, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneHempstead/Nevada counites have been approved for the Livestock Indemnity Program, according to the FSA (Farm Service Agency). The program is designed to help livestock producers who suffered losses from recent natural disasters. It provides a partial reimbursement to elibible producers for livestock losses. If you lost livestock (beef and dairy cattle, sheep, goats, swine, poultry, including egg-producing poultry, buffalo and beefalo and certain equine animals), you may be eligible for assistance. You may be eligible if you own a substantial beneficial interest in eligible livestock, have a financial risk in the eligible livestock, suffered a loss of eligigble livestock that is the direct or proximate result ot the tornado of March 1 and you are a legal resident alien or citizen of the United States. You must provide documentation to support loss claims. The sign-up period for assistance began June 30. It will end July 25. Application should be made at the Hempstead/Nevada County FSA office.
