Stivers Reunion Held

The descendents of Oscar and Grace Niemeyer Stivers held their annual family reunion on Saturday, June 28, at the Prescott Housing Authority community room.

Those arriving early in the week enjoyed attending the wedding of Ron Malone oand Linda Shepherd. Ron is the brother of Lavern Stivers. The wedding was held in the gazebo at Lookout Point overlooking Lake Greeson Friday at 6:00 p.m. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of Richard and Becky Stivers in Murfreesboro. A beautiful wedding cake, punch and coffee was served.

On Saturday the traditional potluck dinner was enjoyed by all. There were 60 family members and friends in attendance. A picture taking session was held after dinner and some enjoyed playing name that tune with Judy Parnell in charge. Lavern and Jody Stivers won the game with 235 points.

Names were drawn for door prizes and then enjoyed the guitar music by Ron Malone, Randall Niemeyer and Fredrick Niemeyer. Several joined in on the singing.

In the late afternoon everyone met at the home of Lavern and Jody Sivers in Prescott, where everyone enjoyed a weiner and marshmallow roast, along with a game of volleyball. It was topped off with a fireworks show presented by Eldon Stivers. Everyone enjoyed the fireworks provided by Spencer and Greg Jones of Fayetteville.

Most everyone left early Sunday afternoon, looking forward to next year's reunion. Judy and Eddie Parnell stayed until Wednesday visiting with Lavern and Jody Stivers and their grandsons, Spencer and Greg, of Fayetteville.

Those in attendance included Judy and Eddie Parnell and Mike and Sharon Parnell of Pensacola, Fla.; Dorothy Niemeyer of Cave City; Fredrick and Cassie Niemeyer of Jacksonville; Edward and Ilene Niemeyer of Abilene, Texas; Bettie Niemeyer of Cave City; Joan, Gilbert, Melissa, Josh, Jeremy, Matthew, Stephanie and Andrew Niemeyer of Wichita, Kans.; Randall, Sylvia, Mikki, Brian, Jacob, Ian and Rachail of Cave City; Marty and Terri Glaze of Judsonia; Mary and John McCollough of Lufkin, Texas; Mary Williams of Cucamonga, Calif.; Barbara and Ted Stivers of Burkburnett, Texas; Lavern and Jody Stivers of Prescott; Chris, Rene and Ed Tankersley of Little Rock; Melissa Tankersley and John Shelley of Fayetteville; Eldon Stivers of Las Vegas, Nev.; Spencer and Greg Jones of Fayetteville; Brady Stivers of Murfreesboro; Kevin Mayes of Cave City; Darla Stivers and Darlene Wheelington of Camden; Johnny McLelland of Prescott; Willis and Blanche Niemeyer of Texarkana; Johnny and Susie Pruitt, Curtis Teague and William Teague of Murfresbora; Amanda Pruitt of Prescott; Herb and Joan Morrow of Prescott; Jenna Carver, Regina, Ron and Linda Malone of West Fork and Sjah Short of Fayetteville.
