Robert J. 'Bob' PearsonPublished Wednesday, August 18, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneGraveside services for Robert J. 'Bob' Pearson, 74, of Deltona, Fla., were Tuesday, August 17, at Laneburg Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Westmoreland officiating. Burial was under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott. Arrangements were under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Monroe, La. Mr. Pearson died July 26, 1999, in Tunica, Miss. Mr. Pearson was a native of Arkansas and a resident of Florida since 1956. He graduated from Arkansas State Teacher's College in Conway in 1947 and attended George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, Tenn., where he earned his master of education degree in 1952. In 1956 he earned his doctor of education. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a mathematics teacher, having taught at Pensacola Junior College, Stetson University and Deltona Junior High School. He also owned and operated an H&R Block franchise in Deltona, Fla., from 1975 to 1989. Mr. Pearson was a life member of the National Education Association and the Florida Education Association, in which he served as president from 1969 to 1970. Survivors include his daughter, Laura Grace Bennett of Helena, Ala.; his son, Lt. Comdr. Stephen Douglas Grace, U.S. Navy, currently stationed in Germany; his brother, Arch E. Pearson Jr. of Monroe, La., his sisters, Virginia Easterling and Ruth Daniel of Prescott and Violet Matthews of Conway; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
