Clark, McNeal Get B&PW ScholarshipPublished Wednesday, July 16, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesArkadelphia Business and Professional Women have awarded two $250 scholarships for the 1997-98 academic year. They are Kadre Layne Clark, a Gurdon High School graduate, and Shawna Latrese McNeal, a graduate of Arkadelphia High School. BP&W is a non-profit organization founded to promote professional standards and prestige for working women and to ensure continuing educational opportunities for women. Arkadelphia BP&W joins thousands of other clubs across the country by providing financial assistance to Clark County women who attend Henderson State University or Ouachita Baptist University. Consideration is given to scholarship, character, leadership and personal achievements. This year the BP&W Scholarship Committee selected two local women to receive the award. Clark is attending OBU with a major in pre-pharmacy. Her plans are to attain a doctor of pharmacy degree and become involved in pharmaceutical research. She is the daughter of Dickie Don and Wanda Clark of Gurdon and has an older brother and sister. McNeal attends HSU. She is majoring in human services with minor in sociology. Her career goal is to get a masters degree in counseling and work in a career related to juvenile probation, counseling, social work or criminal justice.
