Dennis White recently received the Meritorious Service Medal from the commanding general of the 90th Regional Support Command in North Little Rock upon his retirement. White, who is an assistant professor of communications at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, served in the Army Reserve for 28 years and was assigned to the 90th RSC for the last 11 years. He most recently worked in the manpower section of the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Forces Development at 90th RSC headquarters in North Little Rock. The 90th is a major U.S. Army Reserve Command with more than 22,000 soldiers assigned in units throughout the five-state area of Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico. White is the son of Dena White of Prescott. He graduated from Prescott High School in 1964. Army Pvt. Michael P. Fountain has entered basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. During the training, he will receive instruction in drill and ceremonies, map reading, tactics, military customs and courtesies and first aid. He will develop basic combat skills and experience using various weapons available to the infantry soldier. Fountain is the son of Bradley M. and Rose E. Fountain of 104 Vick Ave., Prescott.
