UNATTENDED DEATHPublished Wednesday, August 18, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneOfficers investigated the death of John E. Sales, 49, of Reader Saturday, Aug. 14. According to reports, Belinda Faulkner went to Sales' home to take him to a birthday party. When she arrived the back door was open, as was normal. She knocked and called for Sales, who failed to answer. Faulkner, who works at Medical Park Hospital in Hope, entered the living room and found him slumped over in a chair. She checked for a pulse or heartbeat and found neither. Faulkner then called the NCSO, with Nevada County Coroner Tommy Glass also being notified. Sales was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock to determine the cause of death. Sorrells said all unattended deaths in Arkansas, by law, require the bodies be sent to the crime lab for an autopsy. Foul play is not suspected.
