Russell James `Poppie' Landry, 56, of Rosston died Thursday, August 7, 1997, in University Hospital in Little Rock.

He was born July 20, 1941, at Sunset, La. He was a member of Baseline Christian Church in Little Rock and retired owner of the Southwest Home Improvement Company at Texarkana and a retired farmer.

Suvivors include his wife, Betty Lou Landry of Rosston; one brother, Charles Owen Henderson of Lafayette, La.; five sisters, Anna Smith of Opelousas, La., Bea Cloward of Utah; Melba Smith of Kinder, La.; and Patsy Richard and Gertrude Hyde of Sunset, La.; one son and daughter- in-law, Russell James Landry II and Tracy Landry; two grandchildren, LeAnn and Andrew `Spook' Landry; and number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Sunday, August 10, at Corinth Baptist Church at Bodcaw with the Revs. Billy Russell and Bill Johnston officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
