College NewsPublished Wednesday, August 13, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe office of University Relations and Admissions of Henderson State University announces Amy Renee McKinnon has been awarded the Community College Transfer Scholarship for 1997-98. According to Vikita Bell Hardwrick, director, the scholarship is equivalent to in-state registration fees (tuition) for one year, which equals aproximately $1,980. She is the daughter of David anhd Tina McKinnon. She was a student at University of Arkansas Community College at Hope. Thomas Christopher Lawrence, son of Thomas Charles Lawrence of Prescott, has received a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Lawrence was one of approximately 4,000 undergraduates awarded degrees in more than 100 majors by the university during the 127th annual commencement ceremony May 25. Lawrene majored in classics at the university, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kapa, the nation's most prestigious honor society. He also was a member of Eta Sigma Phi, the honor society for classics majors. He graduated from Longview High School in Longview, Texas.
