Pageant Deadlines NearPublished Wednesday, August 13, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe entry deadline is Sunday, August 24, for the 1997 Nevada County Fair pageants. The pageants will be held during the week of the fair on Thursday, September 18, and Saturday, Septenmber 20. Entry forms are still available for girls ages 0-21 years and boys ages 12 months to 3 years, who are residents of Nevada County. All contestants will compete in formal attire on stage and in the photogenic competition. Girls ages 14-15 (Teen Miss) will also compete in onstage sportswear and private interview, while girls in the Fair Queen competition (ages 16-21) will also compete in private interview, onstage sportswear and onstage swimwear. A new optional composite photogenic category has been added. A composite is a culmination of 6 or 7 pictures with a variety of facial expressions, outfits and backgrounds. More information is available from the director if needed. Programs will be available to the public at this year's pageants. Contestants can sell ads to put in the program. An award will be given to the contestant who sells the most ads. Any contestant who has already sold ads is urged to turn those in as soon as possible.
