Bertha Louise Barnes

Bertha Louise Barnes, 67, died Monday, July 28, 1997, in a Cleveland, Ohio hospital.

She was born February 6, 1930, to Theodore and Elizabeth Doby Mays in Gurdon. She was a graduate of Bell High School.

She served many years as an usher at Community C.M.E. Church. Her brother, Rufus Mays, preceded her in death as did her father.

Survivors invlude her husband, Jesse Tarren Barnes; her mother, Elizabeth Harris of Hot Springs; a son and daughter-in-law, Jesse Bernard and Cheryl Barnes of Ft. Washington, Md.; a daughter, Debra Lynn Barnes of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Francine `Tootie' Lock of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Gloria Jean Tidwell of Cleveland; and three grandchildren, Michael McCoy and Jessica and Jesse Juwan Barnes.

Services were held Friday, August 1, at Boyd Funeral Home in Cleveland, Ohio.
