Annie Laurie DavisPublished Wednesday, August 13, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesAnnie Laurie `Archie' Short Davis, 82, formerly of Gurdon, died Sunday, August 10, 1997. She was born October 3, 1915, to Arthur and Laura Short im Goodman, Miss. She and her husband, Bruce, were longtime owners of the "M" System Grocery in Gurdon, where both were loved by many friends. She had wonderful, God given talent for decorating and growing beautiful plants and flowers and was always willing to share her talents with others. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Gurdon before moving to North Little Rock. There she joined First Baptist Church of Sherwood to be with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Rebecca Lynn, her parents and eleven brothers and sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Laura Overton of North Little Rock and Melynda Childers and son-in-law Joe Childers of Sherwood; two sisters, Rachel Schnapper of Memphis, Tenn., and Helen Brown of Horton, Miss.; grandchildren, Rhonda and Ed Gillies, Samee and Larry Hollingsworth, Brock Overton, Jeff Childers and Rachel Childers; and seven great grandsons, Brad, Luke, Ryan, Micah, Aaron, Andrew and Zak. Services are Wednesday (today), August 13, at Horne Funeral Home in Gurdon with Rev. Edward Gillies officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon under the directions of Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.
