A 24-year-old Michigan woman was reportedly raped in a Nevada County gravel pit, but taken back to Clark County by the suspect.

According to reports, the victim approached an Arkansas State Police Trooper at Dillard's Shell Superstop on Highway 53 near Exit 63 on I-30 Monday, telling him she had been raped and was being held against her will.

The trooper then took her 51-year-old male traveling companion into custody, while she was taken to the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

According to reports, the victim and suspect were traveling from Michigan to Florida together when the alleged rape occurred.

She told officers she had been taken to a gravel pit off Hwy. 53 in Nevada County where the suspect raped her. These are the gravel pits where the .22 caliber rifle used to kill Jeff Lewis and Malissa Clark in 1992 was found.

The suspect was questioned by CCSO officials and released pending further investigation.
