Mayor Taylor Attends Meeting

Mayor Howard Taylor recently attended a meeting of the executive committee of Arkansas Municipal League in Harrison. The committe met August 14 and 15.

The executive committee determines overall policy for the League and develops the service program of the organization. Taylor is serving his second year as a member of the organization.

The committee assists in developing legislation that affects cities and towns. Numerous topics were reviewed that will reflect day to day operations.

Major elements of this program are described briefly: designed a conference to provide newly elected officials with information on duties and responsibilities and designed the development of publications in all areas of local government, dealing specifically on subjucts of special concern to municipal officials.

Some of these publications include a directory of Arkansas municipal officials, the handbook of Arkansas municipal officials and the League publishes a magazine called City and Town, which is designed to provide a forum for municipal officials to exchange ideas and compare notes on accomplishments and problems.

Taylor stated he gathers helpful information each time he attends a meeting of municipal officials. At each meeting municipal officials question the league staff who provides answers to the questions.
