Two local churches were burglarized last week, according to reports from the Prescott Police Department.

Both burglaries occurred close to the same time, Wednesday, Aug. 20.

The first burglary was at the First Christian Church. Officers were dispatched to the church where he was informed the double wooden doors to the fellowship hall had been kicked in.

However, nothing was determined missing at the time.

As the officer was leaving the First Christian Church, the pastor of the Assembly of God Church flagged him down, saying his church had been broken into as well.

Again, it appeared as though the suspect(s) kicked a door in to gain entry into the church.

At the Assembly of God Church, though, several items were taken, including a keyboard, guitar, amplifier, closed circuit camera and a wireless microphone with a broken antenna.

The minister told the officer the break in may have occurred the night of Tuesday, Aug. 19.

BREAK IN

A local flea market was broken into between Aug. 3 and 5, but the incident was not reported until Aug. 20.

The owner of the flea market, located by the Sonic Drive In, left the business between 3 and 4 p.m., Aug. 3, returning again about 9 a.m. Aug. 5 when he found several items missing.

There was no sign of forced entry, but three speakers were taken, as was two pellet rifles, one pellet pistol, a bowie knife, three pocket knives and a set of screwdrivers.

Several of these items have been recovered by the PPD.

PMS BURGLARY

Prescott Middle School was broken into last week, with three videocassette recorders and a television taken from the library.

According to reports, the theft and break-in was reported Friday around noon.

After talking with Principal Jim Gober, the officer learned when Gober left around 7 p.m. Monday the doors were locked, but the front door and an office door were open Tuesday morning.

Tuesday night, about 7:30, Gober's secretary checked the doors, making sure they were locked. However, Wednesday morning the front door was found open again.

At 8:30 a.m. Friday, the librarian noticed the three VCRs and television were missing.
