Horne Attends ConferencePublished Wednesday, August 18, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesFreddie Horne, computer technology and business education teacher for Gurdon High School, Arkansas Vocational Association attended the annual Professional Development Conference in Hot Springs at the Hot Springs Civic and Convention Center August 2 and 3. Over 900 vocational and technical educators from across the state were in attendance. Horne, along with Amanda Shrable of Northwest Arkansas Community College and Kelley Todd of Van Buren High School, were featured presenters for 'The Multimedia Revolution' in-service planned by the State Department of Workforce Education and Career Opportunities. The trio were members of the state curriculum committee that helped established frameworks for multimedia adopted by Arkansas. Rick Pinette, motivational speaker and author, was the opening general session keynote speaker. Dr. and Mrs. Steve Franks, members of the State Board of Workforce Education and members of the Workforce Development Commission, were honored at a reception following in- service activities. Arkansas retiring vocational teachers and educators were honored at the closing general session. Debbie Goodell, counselor at Fayetteville High School, was installed as the 1999-2000 president of the Arkansas Vocational Association.
