William Charles ReadPublished Wednesday, September 10, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesWilliam Charles Read, 62, of North Little Rock died Friday September 5, 1997. A retired locomotive engineer with Union Pacific, he had 43 years of service and a perfect safety record. He was a member of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, division 182. He attended Park Hill Christian Church in North Little Rock and served in the tank division of the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Brooksie Davidson Read; two sons daughters-in-law, William and Melissa Read Jr. of Jackson, Tenn, and Mike and LeaEllen Read of North Little Rock; his mother, Katherine Read of North Little Rock; a brother, Paul Read of Bastrop, La., a sister, Georgia Mae LanHam of Culpepper, Va.; and three granddaughters, Courtney Brook Read, Lauren Elizabeth Read and Michaela Marie Read. Services were held Monday, Septembaer 8, at Horne Funeral Home Chapel. Internment was in Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon by Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.
