At Clark County FairPublished Wednesday, September 10, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesThe George Sharp Junior Livestock Sale of the Clark County Fair will be held on saturday, September 13, at 10:30 a.m. at the Clark County Fairgrounds here in Arkadelphia. We know that you have expressed an interest concerning the sale, and we wanted you to have a special invitation. The sale will commence sharply at 10:30 a.m. and will conclude when all of the animals which have been judged worthy of being entered in the premium sale have gone through the ring. This year we will have the following livestock for sale: Market Steers- up to six (6) market steers as selected by the judge or judges. Breeding Stock (beef, dairy, sheep, swine, etc.)- the best of each breed as selected by the judge or judges. Market Lambs- up to ten (10) market lambs as selected by the judge or judges. Market Swine- up to twenty (20) market swine as selected by the judge or judges. The sale this year will be the same as it has been in the past. The money bid is actually a premium or reward to the child. The animal does not change hands as a result of the sale. Oftentimes, the top animals go on to other livestock shows, and as a result, we changed the format of our auction to reflect the desires of the young people to keeep their animals. We all realize that the sale was simply an opportunity for you to reflect your appreciation to them for having engaged in a worthwhile endeavor. Lunch will be served immediately following the sale free of charge simply because you took an interest in these young people and their future as responsible adults. We thank you in advance and look forward to your being there Saturday, September 13 by 10:30 a.m. Sale schedules will be available early for any of those who dsire to come early to look over th animals and the young people exhibiting them. If you cannot attend the sale but you would like to help the children out, you may contact any of the following persons and tell them what you would like to contribute. They are: William G. Wright, 246-6796; Roy Ham, 246-6824; Ron Matlock, 246-2281; Stacey Stone, 353-4414; or Bill Fowler, 246-5811. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
