Scott Taylor Takes Job With MIT/LLPublished Wednesday, September 10, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneLook! Up in the sky! It's a defense satellite that watches the world to detect ballistic missiles being fired. Scott Taylor, formerly of Prescott, helps operate such a missile at his new job at M.I.T. Scott Taylor has accepted a staff position with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology/Lincoln Laboratory (MIT/LL) in Lexington, Mass. MIT/LL is a federal funded research organization whose fundamental mission is to apply science and advanced technology to critical problems of national security. The laboratory's innovation and application of advanced technology for surveillance, identification and communication are critical to national security. Taylor will be working within group 91 (Space Surveillance Section) and participating on the U.S. Air Force Midcourse Space Experiment (MSX) observatory satellite. The MSX satellite is a ballistic missile defense organization surveillance satellite, which offers major benefits for both the defense and civilian sectors. The spacecraft features an advanced multispectral image capability to gather information on ballistic missiles, deep space satelites, atmospheric studies and space background phenomena.
