Godwin Is Semi-Finalist In ContestPublished Wednesday, September 10, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneCheryl Godwin of Prescott reached the semi-finals in a national poetry contest, sponsored by The Poetry Guild, and her poem was selected to be published. The Poetry Guild chooses poems for publication that exhibit considerable merit. Her poem, The King of Rock-n-Roll, has been published in the Guild's latest anthology, Memories and Daydreams. Cheryl prefers writing about life and legends and she has enjoyed writing poetry for 11 years. Her hobbies include music and songwritting. She is also a member of songwriters Club of America. Ownership of all Nevada County Picayune content from the beginning of the newspaper, including predecessors, until May 2001 was contributed by the John and Betty Ragsdale family to the Prescott Community Freenet Association.
