Rodeo Added To Fair By JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, September 10, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneAlong with the other festivities at the Nevada County Fair, this year there will also be a rodeo. Actually, there will be two separate rodeo-type events. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m., the Bull Bash '97 will be presented. This event is open to the first 30 souls brave enough to pay $40 and sit on the back of 1,000 pounds of pure evil. The winner will collect a prize of $300 added money. All contestants under the age of 18 must have a notarized consent form turned in before the event occurs. The livestock will be provided by Diamond J Contractors of Pike County, while the bash is presented by the Prescott FFA Alumni. The other rodeo event will be for the little cowboys and cowgirls Saturday night at 7 o'clock. This is when the Little Britches Rodeo. The events include a calf flag race for those 12 and under, with an entry fee of $2, all other events have a $10 entry fee; muttin' bustin', for contestants eight and under; girls goat tying open to all contestants 18 and under; boys goat tying, 11 and under; boys calf tying, 12 to 15; boys calf tying, 16-18; barrel racing, open to those 18 and under; barrel pickup, again open to those 18 and below; steer riding for ages 9-12, with a second division for those 15-18; and the final event, chute dogging, for contestants 18 and under.
