A-Team Program Begins

Published Wednesday, September 17, 1997 in the Nevada County Picayune

Prescott Middle School has announced a new advisory advisoree program known as the A-Team. The A-Team is a set of teachers working with a randomly selected group on social and academic skills as determined by the staff at the school.

Each grade level chose a major theme for each team to select a name that corresponds with that theme. The seventh grade chose SPACE as its major theme. The teams in the seventh grade are Rocketters, Space Warriors, Shooting Stars and Cosmic Cubs.

The first A-Team assignment was school-wide - the school handbook.

Students studied the handbook for a week and took a review test Friday, August 22. They concentrated on academic, social and moral behaviors appropriate for students in the Prescott School system. Some students learned the necessity for rules and consequences.

The Space Warriors worked on get-acquainted activities the second week of school. One activity was to take the first letter of a name and write adjectives that describe that person. Students really enjoyed this self-esteem activity.

Teachers and students are excited about the A-Team at Prescott Middle School. This program will benefit students in social and academic settings.

Parents are encouraged to ask your children about activities the A-Teams are doing.
