Best of Show awards at the Clark County Fair were given in eleven categories to adults and youths in the Educational Exhibits building, according to Barbara Holt of the Clark County Extension Service.

For quilts, Mary McBride and Wendy Page were winners.

In the new porcelain, ceremics and glass class, Joan Wilson won for her ballerina doll, and Amber and Christine Phelps for an Indian doll Raven.

The adult clothing winner again this year was Vickie Hughes with a child's dress and matching ribbon decoration. Katherine Ferguson won in the youth division for a navy blue spaghetti strap sun dress.

Matthew McGhee's corn shuck chair seat weaving took honors in the furinture and woodworking section again this year, while Ashley Webb won for her woven seat wooden stool.

Ashley Webb also received a best of show award in preserved foods for her quart of canned relish. Maggie Sue Currey won in the adult division with a pint of canned butter beans.

Two adult winners took best of show in neddlework. Callie Pruitt made a framed cross stitch picture of an Indian woman and Eddie Mae Jackson created a crocheted baby set in a basket. The young winner was Bonnie Ferguson, who sewed a comfort cover.

Phyllis Hughes crafted a three-door decorated rhea egg to win the arts and crafts division, and Chris Thibodeaux's framed Christmas tree collage was the youth winner.

In baked foods, Betty Clower's sour cream pound cake and Pam Putzman's fudge appealed to the judges' sweet tooth.

A large butterfly philodendron won best of show for Callie Prewitt, and a bachelor button flower earned the purple ribbon for the Bass class at Perritt Elementary School.

In horticulture and farm crops, Phyllis Shepherd's sunflower and Jacob Thomas' gourd took best of show.

Educational booths were designed by over a dozen groups. The Manchester Extension Homemakers Club's exhibit, "Let's Replace Our Trees," won top honors. For the young people, L'Eazu Faris 4-H Club took the award for their booth, "Find the Answer Through 4-H."

A new feature in the exhibits building this year was a series of demonstrations on various techniques being staged by local crafts people each day. These were free to the public.
