saw the laundry fall seven times against them for 53 negative yards.

The Devils had 12 first downs, compared to Lake Village's 10.

A stat looking much better this season than last is turnovers. Gurdon fumbled the ball once, losing it. Lake Village put the ball on the ground seven times, losing three.

Gurdon quarterbacks Eric Allen and Toland went to the air 11 times, completing four. The Beaver quarterbacks put the ball up 12 times, completing three.

The Devils's rushing attack didn't feature any one player more than any other. Charles was the leading ball carrier with seven rushes for 22 yards.

Hughes toted the ball six times for 27 yards and Williams had four carries for 19 yards and a touchdown.

Toland was in negative yardage on three carries as he lost five yards. Eric Hatley found himself with a minus five yards rushing as he was dropped behind the line of scrimmage on a double reverse.

Griffin carried once for 11 yards, while Allen carried twice for a yard. Gatlin had two carries for 15 yards, while Cornish had a 35 yard run on his stats.

Now the fun begins.

Gurdon will face its third straight AA size foe Friday, Sept. 19. But this opponent is a long-time league demon.

Friday, the Prescott Curley Wolves, 0-2 on the season, will make the trip down Highway 67 as they visit Gus Brown at 7:30 p.m.

While the Devils were skunking Lake Village 19-0, the Wolves were busy giving their game away to the Hope Bobcats 35-21.

Two years ago, the Wolves visited Gurdon and went away with a win to take the first annual Picayune-Times Traveling Trophy, sponsored by the Nevada County Picayune and Gurdon Times newspapers.

Last year, the Wolves led 14-0 in the first quarter when a severe electrical storm knocked out the lights and ended the contest.

This year, the Devils are looking to gain a measure of revenge against their long-time foes and plan on keeping the travel trophy at GHS.

As usual, when Gurdon and Prescott meet on the athletic field of competition the stands will be packed. Those planning to attend the game should leave early.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., and the weather forecast is for clear skies and cool temperatures -- perfect football weather.
