Jones FamilyPublished Wednesday, August 25, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesOn June 18, 33 descendants of the late A.C. 'Clabe' and Susie (Nunn) Jones of Gurdon checked into their hotel in St Augustine, Fla. for another fantastic family reunion to remember. This three-day fun-filled reunion was chaired by Patrica Jones of Valdosta, Ga., and Nita Baker of Folkston, Ga., wife and daughter of Clay R. Jones. In 1997 this same Jones family met in Santa Fe, N. Mex., for their celebration, which was chaired by Wanda Goodman of Gurdon and Belinda Jackson of Sparkman, granddaughters of Clabe and Susie. Attending the Florida reunion from Gurdon were Charles and Wanda Goodman. Faye (Jones) Meeks of Hayden, Colo., and Clay (Richard) Jones of Valdosta, Ga., two of Mr. and Mrs. Jones' children, both former Gurdonites, attended. Unable to attend and very missed were daughters Irene (Jones) Milloway of Albuquerque, N.Mex., Louise (Jones) Crowder of Wilmington, Calif., Mable (Jones) Ball of Gurdon, and daughters-in-law, Mattie Fay (Arthur) Jones and Betty Ruth (Amos) Jones, both of Gurdon. Other children of the Clabe Jones family were the late Sue (Jones) Horton, Andy Jones, Arthur Jones and Amos Jones. Plans are in motion for the next gathering to be in Hot Springs in June of 2000 with time out for a tour of the old home town, visits to the cemeteries, etc. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
