A Prescott man pled guilty to four separate drug-related counts in circuit court Wednesday, Sept. 24, and was sentenced to 40 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

Charles Tolliver, standing before Eighth Judicial District Judge Jim Gunter, entered guilty pleas to two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, crack cocaine, one count of possession of a controlled substance, crack cocaine, and one count of possession of marijuana.

Gunter sentenced Tolliver to 40 years on the two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, 40 years for possession of a controlled substance and one year on the marijuana charge. These sentences are to run concurrently.

Tolliver was arrested in a sting operation conducted by the Nevada County Sheriff's Office, Prescott Police Department and South Central Drug Task Force earlier this year.

Nevada County Sheriff Steve Otwell thanked those involved in the arrest and conviction of Tolliver. "This is just another example of what kind of impact law enforcement can make in the community when you have all the different agencies working together in complete harmony," he said, "with one indisputable objective in mind -- to get drugs out of Nevada County."

Otwell reminds the public of the promise he made while running for office, saying he will work with any and all agencies necessary to effectively fight the war on drugs in this county.

"I want the people to know I'm sticking to it (the promise)," he said.

He said because drug arrests aren't being on a daily basis doesn't mean the NCSO isn't continually working to make cases against those who deal drugs in the county.

Otwell reiterated his pledge to the residents of the county, saying he would never slack up on the pursuit of drug dealers.
